From Mundane to Magical

Recently, I had the opportunity to change what could be a mundane activity into a magical experience.  I was unpacking my shipment from Mary Kay.  And, in a continued effort to be good to our environment (something MK has done long before it became hip to be green) there is an initiative in place entitled, Pink Doing Green.  Awesome! One cool part of that program is new packing peanuts.  I call them magical peanuts.

While unpacking and stocking my shelves, I noticed a handwritten note in the box that said, “these peanuts will dissolve in water.”  WOW! Could this be true? I eagerly began to empty the box totally fixated on the peanuts.  Once empty of products, I walked to the kitchen with my magic peanut filled box. I dumped a huge mountain of the peanuts in my sink.  The water was running and it was growing warmer and warmer.  The excitement was mounting!  I grabbed the sprayer to dissolve the peanuts.  To my JOYful amazement, literally in seconds, the mountain of magic peanuts completely vanished.  Wow! How cool is that? My inner child was gleeful!  So with even more gusto I dumped all the rest, even tapping the bottom for every last morsel.  And, alas, rinse and repeat.  Poof! Peanuts be gone.

When Kim arrived home, I was eager to share the magic with him.  However, I was peanut less.  He would have to trust me on it.  We laughed together and began to consider all the other things in life that could be turned from ordinary to extraordinary, from boring to brilliant, or mundane to magical.  It is certainly worth putting some energy into isn’t it?

The day awaits us.  And, lucky for me, there is a box in my car with more peanuts.  I smile as I sign off and wish for you a magical day.

How about changing paying bills into a magical event. My recent job change (read workforce reduction turner entrepreneur) has allowed me lots of opportunities to be magical.

So, I am amazed at how great our finances are doing. I will pay my bills with love because I DO have the money to pay them and even more left after that. Rather than begrudging or saying, “Ug, time to pay the bills.”, I am excited to pay them because we can.

Thanks for the good reminder, Sandra. Love, Joy, a Grateful Chic
